A Woman in the White
House - Before 2008?
by Juliette Rossant
Vote for a Woman for White House Executive Chef
Washington, DC (PRWEB) April 14, 2005 -- The Elections are over -- or
are they? In February 2005, the White House announced it would be hiring
a new executive chef. It’s about time the nation saw a woman in this
position. Woman chefs command the kitchens of many of the nation’s best
restaurants, so why not our national kitchen? Superchefblog.com, a
weblog published by Juliette Rossant, original Celebrity Chefs columnist
for the Forbes annual Celebrity 100 issue and author of Super Chef
(Simon & Schuster 2004), is running a poll throughout April 2005 to
bring awareness to this issue and to encourage the White House to hire a
woman as it’s next Executive Chef.
Superchefblog.com has nominated over 40 women chefs from all over the
United State (and is accepting write-in nominations for more). Among the
chefs listed are Food Network stars Sara Moulton, Cat Cora, Kathleen
Daelemans, and Paul Deen; PBS star Lidia Bastianich; and award-winning
chefs across the country like Patricia Yeo, Zarela Martinez, Anne
Cashion, Lydia Shire, Susan Spicer, Tracy Des Jardins, and Nancy
Silverton. Profiles of nominated chefs will run throughout April 2005,
as well as commentary and further thoughts on the nature of the White
House Executive Chef.
The voter base grows daily, but it cannot grow fast enough. While there
is only one voice that Washington listens to -- the voter's -- that
voice's volume is measured in numbers. The greater the number of votes
amassed, the more the White House must listen.
So, get out the vote! Let family, friends, blogs, and Media know: there
is still a chance to get a woman elected to the White House -- before
2008! And let's face it: it's about time a woman was elected to the
White House! Why wait until 2008? Vote now. Last voting day is Friday,
April 29; the winner will be announced on Monday, May 2.
